Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)
Location : Alameda, CA
Setting : Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), 166 beds.
Schedule : Full-time | Flexible shifts
WellTech Partners is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) on behalf of one of our partnered healthcare facilities. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients while working in a supportive, interdisciplinary team environment.
Position Summary
The Occupational Therapist Assistant will provide direct patient care and support activities under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR). The OTA will assist in implementing treatment plans designed to improve patients functional abilities, independence, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver hands-on patient care in accordance with the treatment plan developed by the supervising OTR.
- Provide education and instruction to patients, families, and caregivers on therapy techniques and home programs.
- Accurately document patient progress, treatment sessions, and billing in compliance with facility and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Participate in care conferences and communicate effectively regarding patient progress and discharge planning.
- Maintain equipment and treatment areas in safe working order, following all safety and infection control protocols.
- Support the therapy department through scheduling, documentation assistance, and administrative tasks as needed.
- Engage in continuing education and contribute to the professional growth of self and colleagues.
Qualifications
Education : Graduate of an AOTA-approved Occupational Therapist Assistant program with an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy.Licensure / Certification :Current California OTA license or eligibility for licensure.Current CPR certification.Experience :Prior experience in geriatric rehabilitation preferred.Background in neurological, cardiac, or general rehabilitation is an asset.Skills :Strong knowledge of OT treatment techniques and medical terminology.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.Compassionate, patient-centered approach and ability to work collaboratively within a team.Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and transfer patients (50-70 lbs) multiple times per day.Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching during patient care.Ability to perform CPR and other emergency procedures as required.Why Join This Team
