Job Description
The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is the field-based scientific and clinical expert on current and future Johnson & Johnson Innovative products. The Senior MSL provides fair, balanced, objective, scientific information and education to health care professionals and internal partners as required by scientific and business needs. The Senior MSL stays abreast of current scientific and treatment landscape trends in the relevant therapeutic areas and provides research support for company-sponsored as well as investigator-initiated studies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a strategic and comprehensive territory plan and build strong relationships with community and academic opinion leaders / KOLs in the territory.
- Engage in high-level scientific and research discussions with KOLs and OLs to understand perspectives on the current treatment landscape.
- Identify provider educational needs and address them with tailored responses.
- Deliver relevant scientific data tailored to HCP needs through clear and effective dialog / presentation.
- Execute the current Medical Affairs strategy and MSL priorities.
- Respond to unsolicited research / clinical inquiries from external stakeholders promptly.
- Collect and submit high-quality actionable insights aligned with the organization’s strategic priorities.
- Develop a strategic approach for customer engagements within the territory using insights and MSL tools.
- Provide research support for company-sponsored and investigator-initiated studies.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including MSL field partners, R&D, US and Global Medical Affairs, clinical operations, sales, and marketing teams.
- Demonstrate scientific acumen through self-study, journal clubs, educational seminars, and participation in congresses.
- Foster a culture of inclusion and belonging to reflect diverse communities.
- Develop understanding of regulatory and healthcare compliance guidelines, and Medical Affairs SOPs and guidelines.
- With the direct manager, develop and implement a performance and development plan and lead leadership projects.
- Perform administrative requirements in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner (e.g., expense reports, activity documentation).
Requirements
A Doctorate level degree or equivalent (PharmD, PhD, MD, Advanced Practice Providers) is required.Post-graduate experience is required for doctoral candidates, with preference for clinical experience.2+ years of MSL experience and / or 2+ years relevant work experience (clinical, research, fellowship, or pharmaceutical).Scientific acumen : in-depth scientific and / or therapeutic knowledge.Research and / or health care system knowledge.Ability to support a specific territory with up to 60% travel; valid US driver’s license.Preferred
Residency / fellowship preferred.Board certification for clinical degrees preferred.Experience in the Solid Tumor therapeutic area is highly preferred.Additional details : This position is eligible for a company car through the Fleet program. Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $137,000 to $237,750. The position may be eligible for an annual performance bonus and company benefits as described in internal policies. This description is for informational purposes and is not a contract or guarantee of employment.
