Position Summary :
- This entry-level position is designed for individuals passionate about supporting vulnerable populations in a fast-paced, remote work environment. The primary responsibility of this role is to manage incoming calls throughout the shift, coordinating referrals into open beds or diverting them to the appropriate level of care if criteria are not met for inpatient level of care. The role involves frequent communication with referral partners, guardians, and individuals in crisis, requiring strong coordination and decision-making skills. While most calls involve referral partners, the position also requires the ability to de-escalate callers in crisis and provide trauma-informed support when necessary. Key responsibilities include multitasking across multiple systems, navigating Electronic Health Records (EHR), and collaborating with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely and accurate placement or referral. Employees must work independently, troubleshoot effectively using electronic resources, and maintain professionalism under pressure. Schedule :
Hybrid; Schedule available : Saturday from 7pm-5am on Sunday, Sunday from 7pm-5am on Monday; 2 weeknight shifts of similar timeframe that changes dependent on need. Example of 1 week : Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, then Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday.Position will be fully remote after at least a two-week training!Education :
High school diploma or equivalent required.Bachelor’s degree in a human services field (i.e. Social Work, Education, Sociology, Psychology, Counseling, Human Relations) or Criminal Justice preferredExperience :
Experience working with economically disadvantaged, vulnerable or at-risk youth and / or young adults. Prefer a minimum of two years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.Certification / Licensure :
At least 20 years oldValid Driver's LicenseValid Auto InsuranceEssential Duties / Responsibilities :
Practice conduct that displays respect for all KVC colleagues and community stakeholders regardless of age, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion, ethnicity, or veteran status.Accepts and processes appropriate intake calls, walk-ins, and referrals brought to the KVC Psychiatric Hospital.Ensures children, youth, and adults referred to KVC receive timely, accurate, and complete intake and assessment.Maintains strict confidentiality about child / youth / family information.Frequent telephonic interface with health plans; maintains accurate recording of information and ensures that this is provided to others in an accurate and timely fashion.Gathers data, compiles information, and completely and accurately (including grammar and spelling) enters information into the data management system.Maintains current knowledge and understanding of JIAC and KVC policies and procedures, KVC programs and services, and outside community agencies.Communicates effectively and respectfully both orally and in writing with children / youth, family members, staff, other service agencies, and the general public; uses strong active listening skills.Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.Proficient in agency computer applications.Maintains cleanliness and neatness of the KVC waiting areas and work area, including organization of toys, games, books, blankets, and other items on shelves, wiping off tables and chairs several times during the day, and filing of information in appropriate files.Regularly attends monthly staff meetings or reviews minutes of meetings to remain up-to-date; attends staff conferences and in-service training as required or needed.Notifies Supervisor or Director verbally within the required amount of time of a reportable condition, critical incident, accident and / or injury of staff or child / youth, or investigation that involves the programs supervised.Discusses and / or obtains advance approval from Supervisor to attend training, submit check requests, vacation requests, and reimbursement requests.Coordinates calls to ensure appropriate placement into open beds or diversion to the correct level of outpatient care if criteria are not met.De-escalates callers in crisis, including guardians or referral partners, using trauma-informed care principles and approved techniques.Collaborates with referral partners, guardians, and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely communication regarding placement or care coordination.Manages multiple systems and tools simultaneously, including Electronic Health Records (EHR), Microsoft Teams, and other communication platforms, to ensure efficient workflow.Demonstrates the ability to work independently and troubleshoot issues using electronic resources and handouts available on OneDrive.Maintains professionalism and composure under pressure, especially when handling crisis situations or high-stress calls.Provides excellent customer service to referral partners, guardians, and other stakeholders, ensuring all interactions are respectful and solution focused.Participates in performance improvement initiatives and contributes to a collaborative team environment.Essential Duties / Responsibilities :
Minimum of two years’ experience working with economically disadvantaged, vulnerable, or at-risk youth and / or adults, preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and cloud-based systems like OneDrive.Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.Technologically savvy with the ability to manage multiple tabs, systems, and digital tools simultaneously.Strong multitasking, organizational, and time management skills for handling phone calls, emails, data entry, and prioritizing tasks.Excellent verbal and written communication skills for coordination and documentation.Ability to work independently, solve problems, and troubleshoot effectively in a remote setting using electronic resources.Proven ability to collaborate in a remote work environment using tools like Teams and email.Experience in crisis intervention, including de-escalation techniques and managing high-stress situations calmly.Training or experience in trauma-informed care principles.Attention to detail and accuracy in completing intakes and managing patient data.Join us :
