Job Description Summary :

Reporting to the Director of the Office of Residence Life, the Housing Coordinator : (Facilities) will provide oversight for facilities operations for University of Maryland Eastern Shore residential communities. The Housing Coordinator : (Facilities) coordinates repairs with Physical Plant / Facilities Management, ensuring accurate inventory of furniture, scheduling major building repairs and maintenance, assists in developing renewal and replacement projects for the facility and develops and implements operating policies and procedures. Coordinator must be willing to work flexible hours.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

Coordinates, project, and manage multi-craft activities involved in preventive, scheduled, and emergency maintenance, cleaning, repair, and renovation of residential buildings.

Works with the Director of Residence Life / Associate Director to develop long term / multi-year preventative maintenance

Develops or assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization to ensure efficient and safe operation of the unit.

Coordinates regular inspection and cleaning of residence halls and apartments. Ensures that maintenance request orders made by residents are completed.

Supervises personnel to assist with light maintenance and inventory control. Typically includes recommendations for hiring, firing, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution.

Maintains compliance with departmental security, audit procedures, and university policy.

Assists in facility and space usage planning; advises administration on the application of institutional policy, regulations, and standards relating to the management of physical resources.

Performs quality control inspections to ensure adherence to university expectations, protocols, and procedures.

Administer process for work order completion by utilizing work order software.

Assists in developing and implements systems and processes to establish and maintain records for the operating unit including digital inventory record.

Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

Perform other responsibilities as required.

Physical Demands :

May be required to perform physical work requiring bending, stooping, reaching, carrying, and frequent heavy lifting.

May be required to work in adverse weather conditions.

May be required to wear and work in personal protective equipment.

May be required to operate a variety of equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION : High School Diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE : Three years experience in student housing, residence life, or directly related field.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES :

Comprehensive knowledge and skill in the practical application of office practices, procedures, and equipment. General knowledge of bookkeeping principles and accounting standards. General knowledge of and skill in the use of word processing, database, and spreadsheet software programs. Skill in compiling and summarizing information. Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and tact. Ability to project a professional and positive image. Ability to interact with students, staff, and other university employees in a courteous and efficient matter. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to operate computers and other office equipment.

OTHER :

Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
