The Senior Data Scientist – Sales Compensation Analytics & Dashboards will play a critical role in transforming complex sales and compensation data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making across the enterprise. Reporting to the Vice President of Sales Compensation , this role will lead the development of advanced analytics, predictive models, and scalable dashboards to evaluate and optimize sales incentive programs. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, a hands-on data expert, and a collaborative partner to cross-functional teams including Sales, Finance, HR, and IT.
Key Responsibilities :
Advanced Analytics & Modeling
Design and implement statistical models to evaluate sales compensation performance and forecast outcomes.
Conduct scenario analysis and simulations to support incentive plan design and optimization.
Develop predictive models for forecasting, anomaly detection, and risk assessment. Dashboard Development
Build and maintain interactive dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to visualize compensation metrics, attainment, and payout trends.
Ensure dashboards are scalable, intuitive, and aligned with business needs. Data Strategy & Governance
Collaborate with data engineering teams to enhance data pipelines and infrastructure.
Lead efforts to improve data quality, integration, and governance across compensation systems.
Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and ethical guidelines. Stakeholder Engagement
Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for executive leadership and business partners.
Present findings through compelling data storytelling, reports, and presentations. Mentorship & Best Practices
Mentor Sales Compensation analysts on analytics and visualization best practices.
Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Minimum Job Qualifications :
Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.
Critical Skills
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in data science or analytics, with a focus on sales compensation or sales performance.
Proficiency in SQL, Python or R, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
Strong understanding of statistical modeling, forecasting, and machine learning techniques.
Experience with sales compensation platforms (e.g., Xactly, Varicent, Anaplan) is a plus.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Experience working in a fast-paced, cross-functional corporate environment.
First-Year Success Outcomes :
Deliver a suite of executive-ready dashboards that provide real-time visibility into sales compensation performance.
Develop and deploy at least two predictive models to support incentive plan optimization.
Establish a standardized framework for compensation data governance and reporting.
Build strong partnerships with Sales, Finance, and HR to align analytics with business strategy.
