Description :
The RN will work in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit.
The unit has a capacity of 15 beds.
It accommodates both Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery.
Nurse to patient ratios are 1 : 2 unless caring for pediatric patients or higher acuity patients, in which case the ratio is 1 : 1.
Common cases include a mixed patient population with pediatric patients daily, some of whom have disabilities.
All OR cases are included, with the exception of transplant cases.
The electronic medical record system used is EPIC.
A charge nurse is present on each shift; the charge nurse primarily provides break relief and may take an assignment but travelers are not utilized in charge roles.
There may be one nurse aide in the department, and RNs are responsible for transporting patients.
The unit manages patients requiring ventilation, such as those on CPAP, BiPAP, and other respiratory support devices.
The unit is capable of recovering ICU patients, including those on pressors and needing blood products.
RNs are required to read cardiac strips.
Mixed 8 and 12-hour shifts are available.
Shift schedules may include 7 : 30 AM - 4 : 00 PM, 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 30 PM, 8 : 30 AM - 5 : 00 PM, and 10 : 00 AM - 6 : 30 PM.
There are maximum on-call requirements of 1-2 nights per 6-week schedule, totaling no more than 8 on-call shifts.
Weekend call consists of 24 hours within a 6-week period.
On-call duties are required during holidays as needed.
The expected call response time is 30 minutes.
Travel staff are prioritized for floating duties, which may include assisting in inpatient units or serving as sitters.
Scrubs are provided to staff.
Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate kindness, teamwork, and efficiency.
A radius rule of 50 miles applies to candidates.
Time off requests should not exceed 7 days for the duration of the contract, and additional requests will not be considered after submission.
Cancellation policy allows for 4 shifts per contract, or 3 shifts if the contract is under 13 weeks.
