How you make a difference :

The Physician Assistant provides comprehensive medical care to inmates under the supervision of medical leadership. Responsibilities include evaluating and treating acute and emergency complaints, participating in administrative meetings, and supporting cross-coverage needs. The PA collaborates with physicians and mental health professionals, ensuring clinical documentation and treatment align with protocols. They maintain patient privacy and contribute to quality improvement activities. The role also involves emergency care coordination and psychiatric assessment support.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Deliver acute and emergency medical care in accordance with protocols
  • Consult with physicians and manage patient transfers when clinically indicated
  • Document all findings using the S.O.A.P. method and EMR systems
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and participate in quality improvement efforts
  • Provide cross-coverage and support psychiatric stability assessments

Requirements : EDUCATION :

  • Completion of an accredited education program for PAs
  • EXPERIENCE :

  • Previous correctional / detention facility experience
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience
  • LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS :

  • Unrestricted current license, certification or registration in state of practice
  • Must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration
  • Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS and PALS (where applicable) certification through AHA
