Compliance Specialist
Duties include but are not limited to :
Conducting compliance surveys on institutions of higher learning, non-college degree, on-the-job training and apprenticeship programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) regulations
Review and evaluate surveys to identify discrepancies and provide corrective actions to the facility and the VA.
Prepare reports for submission to the VA concerning on-site visitation evaluations
Provide technical assistance and advice to educational institutions with the preparation of applications for approval to train veterans under Public Law 89-358.
Provide assistance and advice to veterans concerning various institutions and programs and investigate and resolve complaints submitted by veterans or veterans' groups.
Operational Needs :
Travel may be required (approximately 50%), including during evening and weekends, depending on mission and assignment.
Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver's License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required, or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.

Required Experience :
A master's degree and two years of related professional experience
Two years of professional experience

Applicants may also be appointed to this position if currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title OR are a current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to a Grade 22 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Note : IN ORDER TO AWARD THE PROPER CREDIT FOR WORK EXPERIENCE, RESUMES MUST INCLUDE MONTH AND YEAR FOR START AND END DATES. IF ANY OF THIS EXPERIENCE IS LESS THAN FULL TIME YOU MUST INDICATE THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF HOURS WORKED PER WEEK.
