American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position on a Level 1 Trauma unit with night shifts and the ability to circulate in the OR.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Provide care on a 16-bed Labor & Delivery unit with 9 antepartum rooms and 3 dedicated OR suites for C-sectionsPatient population includes both high-risk OB and routine obstetric careUp to 400 births per month with nurse-patient ratios of 1 : 1-2 for active labor and 1 : 2-3 for antepartumTitrate drips such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and pain medicationsEPIC EMR and Obix Electronic Fetal Monitoring used12-hour night shifts with every third weekend required, though may be increased to every other weekend based on unit needRequired to float to Postpartum and may occasionally float to serve as a sitter in other unitsHoliday coverage includes 1 major and 1 minor holiday per contractHospital has in-house coverage from OB / Neonatology, anesthesia, and charge nurse support each shiftPerform admission assessments, manage active labor, assist with deliveries, and conduct routine newborn and maternal careMust be comfortable floating to Postpartum and occasionally serving as a sitter elsewhere in the facilityTeam-oriented environment with support from OBTs, residents, and dedicated charge nursesOrientation consists of 2-3 unit-specific shiftsSurgical scrubs are provided; artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areasRTO must be submitted up front and is limited to 7 days per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approvedFirst-time travelers acceptedReferences must include one from a supervisor within the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the past 3 years\n \n Requirements\n
Active NE or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experienceCurrent BLS, NRP, and Intro to Fetal Monitoring certifications requiredCompetency in circulating in the OR and in normal newborn assessment and routine baby careAbility to titrate common drips used in Labor & DeliveryExperience with EPIC EMR preferredMust reside at least 50 miles from the facility as verified by driver's licenseCannot have held any staff or PRN employment with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year\n Benefits\n
