Day Program Instructor / Program Specialist

Lifesteps is hiring a Full-Time Day Program Instructor / Program Specialist for Day Program in the Washington area.

Lifesteps is a non-profit human services organization which has been serving Western Pennsylvania for nearly 100 years by "helping individuals and families with life's changing needs". The Agency provides programs and services to help those with special needs live to their fullest potential.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for ensuring the health, safety and well-being of persons with intellectual disabilities by assisting in the development and implementation of appropriate plans. This position helps with carrying out program activities, observing and reporting performance of clients in a variety of situations, and maintaining a safe and clean environment.

This full-time position works a Monday through Friday schedule of 8am to 4pm with weekends off. Opportunities for overtime available! No on call and no shift coverage responsibility!

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate's degree OR 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university and 4 years' experience working directly with persons with disabilities OR a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years of experience working directly with persons with disabilities OR a Master's degree or above from an accredited college or university and 1 year of experience working directly with persons with disabilities
  • Possess a valid driver's license and auto insurance
  • Must be able to lift 200lbs with assistance
  • Must be able to pass a background check and obtain clearances
  • Must be at least 18yrs of age or older

Preferred

  • Master's degree and 1 year of experience working directly with persons with disabilities
  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of working directly with persons with disabilities
  • Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators Certificate (ACRE)
  • Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
