Base Pay Range
$6,727 – $8,929 – Pay is based on experience, qualifications, and eligibility.
About the Role
The Correctional Counselor is a core member of the multidisciplinary team at Oregon State Penitentiary (OSP) in Salem. You will set the stage for rehabilitation, elicit motivation for change, and conduct daily one-on-one interviews, risk / needs evaluations, and file reviews to determine custody classification and gate clearance. You will provide intensive and intermediate case management for adult inmates, ensuring resources are focused on each individual's success and contributing to institutional safety and reduced recidivism.
Responsibilities
- Conduct daily client interviews and assessments for Adult In Custody (AIC) individuals.
- Perform risk / needs evaluations, file reviews, and determine custody classification and gate clearance.
- Provide intensive and intermediate case management based on risk to recidivism and special needs.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to build rapport, develop case plans, and implement interventions.
- Maintain documentation, report incidents, and adhere to department policies and security procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in behavioral science, criminal justice, or related field; AND at least two (2) years of professional counseling experience working with clients in a social service or rehabilitative program; ORThree (3) years of experience in a social service, rehabilitative, or correctional program with primary responsibility for counseling individuals or groups; AND two (2) years of professional counseling experience; ORMaster's degree in behavioral science AND one year of professional counseling experience working with clients in a social service or rehabilitative program.Requested Skills
