The Automation Controls Specialist I applies knowledge of various building trades, such as electrical, mechanical, telecommunications and information systems networks, to computer-based control systems and building automation and environmental control energy equipment in commercial and industrial buildings. Should be able to interface with customers, architects, engineers, and contractors to install and service building automation systems including project start-up and commissioning.
At Naval Air Station in Pensacola, FL the Automation Controls Specialist I is responsible for troubleshooting, fixing and updating HVAC systems and associated controls; downloading, updating and verifying software accuracy; and calibrating and testing HVAC systems and controls. Must also be well versed in environmental energy equipment such as heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems, heat pumps, boilers, air handlers, variable air volume and mixing boxes, chillers, primary / secondary pumps, variable flow chilled water plants and related equipment, lighting control, security and access control.
- Diagnose and repair electronic control system malfunctions
- Manage assigned work to meet professional execution, time, and customer satisfaction standards
- Report problems or changes to management immediately
- Interface with Service Manager, Service Project Manager, and subcontractors on projects to coordinate activities in an ethical and professional manner
- Ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in outside / inside / heat / cold / day / night conditions
- Ability to work in a team environment providing dedicated support to our customers
- Work according to project timelines and required processes
