At RK&K, we are currently hiring a Licensed Project Engineer to join our Transportation Division in Lakeland or Tampa, Florida. As a Stormwater Engineer at RK&K, you will support local and statewide efforts in stormwater management and drainage design with an emphasis on scour, hydrology, and hydraulics for transportation-related projects. You will be responsible for the planning, designing, and implementation of effective drainage systems to ensure efficient conveyance and management of stormwater.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and deliver industry-leading stormwater management strategies for transportation projects, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines
  • Conduct drainage design activities, including the analysis of existing drainage systems, designing new drainage systems and ditches, and creating appropriate plans
  • Utilize hydraulic modeling software such as ICPR4, SWMM, and HEC-RAS
  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations related to drainage design and stormwater management
  • Prepare permit sketches, construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates as needed
  • Perform scour analysis
  • Perform field investigations to collect data, take field measurements, photographs, sketches, and verify surveys

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of Five (5) years of experience as a Civil Engineer supporting transportation projects
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License in Florida
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
  • Advanced knowledge of drainage design, H&H modeling, and stormwater management
  • Proficient with industry software : MicroStation, HEC-RAS, Civil3d, ICPR, FDOT Connect / OpenRoads Designer
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical concepts and collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Experience supporting Florida Department of Transportation and other local Florida agencies
  • Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Six (6) plus years of experience in water resources
