Department purpose

Our client's unrivalled restructuring and insolvency team, with more than 200 lawyers specializing in restructuring across 33 offices globally, is truly world class. With such an extensive and dedicated team, they advise on the largest and most complex restructurings, and pride themselves on providing pioneering solutions as well as delivering real commercial results. They specialize in cross-border restructurings and insolvencies and special situation, utilizing the full range of international options including U.S. Chapter 11 reorganizations, UK schemes of arrangement, pre-packaged sales and debt for equity swaps.

Their expertise covers advice on contingency planning, debt restructuring, in-court proceedings under chapter 11 and chapter 15 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, out-of-court restructurings, distressed acquisitions / sales, and liability management exercises. They advise debtors, creditors and investors at all levels of the capital structure.

They work closely with specialists in related practice areas including finance, corporate, real estate, employment, pensions, tax, environment, regulatory, capital markets and litigation to provide their clients with a seamless and integrated service.

Role purpose

Our client seeks an accomplished associate to join our New York or Dallas office with a minimum of 3 years of experience focused on Restructuring work. Our Restructuring practice represents debtors, secured and unsecured creditors and other parties in interest in in-court and out-of-court restructurings, complex chapter 11 bankruptcies and other distressed situations. Qualified candidates should have either creditor or company side expertise as well as major law firm experience. New York or Texas qualified is ideal but not required.

The salary range for this position is $260,000 to $365,000 depending on the candidate's JD year. They offer competitive compensation and benefits package which includes a discretionary bonus, paid leave, life, health, accident, and disability insurance; and a 401(k) plan.

Role and responsibilities

Advise clients, including corporations, financial institutions, and other stakeholders on restructuring options, bankruptcy filings, and related legal matters.

Conduct legal research and due diligence on financial and operational issues affecting distressed companies.

Prepare and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, such as restructuring agreements and court filings.

Minimum Requirements

A Juris Doctor (JD) degree (LLM or foreign equivalent) from an accredited law school.

Must be admitted, and in good standing, to the bar in the jurisdiction in which you will practice; or must provide written confirmation as to ability to become admitted in that State or District.

Previous Restructuring experience.

Preferred Requirements

Ability to manage multiple restructuring and bankruptcy matters simultaneously.

Ability to work well under pressure and manage your time effectively.
