The company is seeking a skilled Project Engineer to join our marine construction team in Long Beach, CA. In this role, you will be at the center of field operations, coordinating crews, tracking production, ensuring safety compliance, and supporting project execution. You will also serve as a critical link between field operations and office management, assisting superintendents, foremen, and project managers to deliver projects on time, safely, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Field Coordination & Project Support : Collaborate with superintendents and foremen to plan daily work, coordinate labor, equipment, and material deliveries, and adapt plans to field conditions for efficiency and safety.
- Production Tracking & Reporting : Maintain detailed daily logs of crew activities, equipment usage, and material quantities. Track progress against project goals and report updates to the Project Manager.
- Quality & Safety Compliance : Enforce MSHA, OSHA, USACE, and company safety policies. Lead safety meetings, monitor field operations, and maintain required documentation. Serve as Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) or Quality Control (QC) Manager on USACE projects as needed.
- Surveying & Documentation : Perform progress surveys, prepare cross sections and bathymetry maps, and support project documentation including as-builts, progress photos, and reporting.
- Scheduling & Planning : Assist in project scheduling, anticipate potential delays, and coordinate solutions with the project team.
- Other Duties : Provide technical support in layout, surveying, and documentation as required.
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Construction Management, or related fieldMinimum 5 years of experience in marine or heavy civil construction projects (roles may include Field Engineer, Project Engineer, Superintendent, Construction Manager, or Project Manager)Valid California driver's License and acceptable driving recordAbility to obtain TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft OfficeStrong construction document management skills, including correspondence, RFIs, submittals, change orders, contracts, and progress paymentsAbility to enforce and support MSHA, OSHA, USACE, and company safety policiesPreferred Qualifications :
Experience working on USACE projectsFamiliarity with EM 385-1-1 safety standards and procedures; SSHO or QC Manager EM 385-1-1 training a plusSurveying experience (hydrographic and / or topographic)Experience with Hypack softwareConstruction estimating experience, including HeavyBid softwarePhysical Requirements :
