Electrical Engineering Intern

Loureiro Engineering Associates is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to join our Facility Engineering Division in Plainville, CT.

This internship offers hands-on experience supporting the design and development of electrical systems as part of our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) team.

Interns will gain exposure to real-world projects involving lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, and renewable energy systems for a range of public and private-sector buildings.

This is a paid internship.

This opportunity is ideal for students who are eager to apply electrical engineering principles in the built environment and develop technical design skills in a professional consulting setting.

What You’ll Do Assist in the design of electrical systems for buildings, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems Support the preparation of construction drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications Conduct field investigations of existing electrical systems Perform basic electrical calculations such as load analysis and voltage drop under supervision Work with AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical modeling tools to support project deliverables Collaborate with other disciplines (mechanical, plumbing, architectural) on integrated building systems Attend internal design meetings and client coordination sessions as needed Who You Are Curious and motivated to learn about electrical system design in real-world applications Detail-oriented and eager to contribute to high-quality technical work Effective communicator, both written and verbal Reliable, accountable, and able to work well as part of a team Comfortable receiving feedback and open to continuous improvement What You Bring Junior, senior, or graduate-level student pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or related field Minimum 3.0 GPA Interest in building electrical systems and MEP design Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or electrical design software is a plus Strong communication skills and attention to detail Eagerness to learn and contribute to a collaborative team environment Prior internship or academic project experience related to building systems is a plus Loureiro Engineering Associates, Inc. is a full-service, employee-owned multidisciplinary consulting firm with operations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, North Carolina, and Missouri.
