Overview

Cross Country Coach 6th / 7th Grade, 2025 / 2026 at Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District.

Responsibilities

  • Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
  • Has previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport (major sports).
  • The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
  • Must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
  • Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.
  • Report to the Principal, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals.
  • Supervise a staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal.
  • Instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for individual and team success; promote social development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment.
  • Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation.
  • Maintain discipline, address grievances, and work to increase morale and cooperation.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the athletic director or principal.
  • Assist in scheduling, transportation, and requirements for tournaments and special sport events; coordinate program with maintenance and school employees.
  • Provide documentation for state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent and eligibility.
  • Safeguard equipment sites and ensure proper maintenance of equipment, facilities, and inventory.
  • Advise the athletic director and recommend policy, method or procedural changes.
  • Serve as a mentor to student athletes to develop character traits (trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, citizenship).
  • Monitor student athletes' grades and conduct; provide guidance and support during travel and practices.
  • Establish and enforce training rules and regulations for participants.
