About The Position

Horse Cave & Albany, Kentucky Emergency Medicine Physician Locum Tenens | Cross-Credentialed Sites

• Location : Horse Cave & Albany, KY (Cross-Credentialed at 4 Regional Sites)
• Contract Type : Locum Tenens – Emergency Medicine Physician
• Start Date : August 2025
• Assignment Length : Short-term (3–6 months) with extension potential
• Shift Commitment : 5–6 shifts per month preferred | 24-hour shifts highly preferred (12-hour shifts considered)

The Opportunity

Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking Emergency Medicine Physicians (MD / DO) for a high-priority cross-credentialing assignment covering four rural Kentucky hospitals. Primary coverage is needed in Horse Cave and Albany, but all providers will maintain credentials at two additional nearby facilities to support program flexibility.

We are actively recruiting providers from diverse backgrounds—including Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and General Surgery trained physicians—with or without board certification. Clean files and active certifications are required.

Horse Cave, Kentucky

Annual Volume : 6,000 visits

ED Beds : 7

Patient Flow : ~0.75 patients / hour

Shift Structure : Solo Coverage | 8a–8p & 8p–8a (24-hour shifts strongly preferred)

Admitting Orders : Yes – Includes rounding & H&P on 2–3 inpatients daily

EMR : Meditech

Trauma Designation : None

Albany, Kentucky

Annual Volume : 4,500 visits

ED Beds : 8

Patient Flow : ~0.6 patients / hour

Shift Structure : Solo Coverage | 7a–7p & 7p–7a (24-hour shifts strongly preferred)

Admitting Orders : Yes – ED physicians manage admissions

EMR : CPSI / T-Sheets

Trauma Designation : None

Candidate Requirements

Board Certification : Not required – IM / FM / General Surgery physicians accepted

Licensure : Active Kentucky Medical License & DEA

Certifications : ACLS, PALS, ATLS, BLS (ATLS waived for ABEM)

Experience : Recent rural Emergency Medicine experience preferred
