Job Summary
SHI One is an exciting team within the Advanced Solutions Group of SHI that is building new digital experiences for our internal users, customers and partners.
The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for the analysis, design, and development of solutions focused on data engineering and ETL workflows. As a Sr. Software Engineer - Data, you will work with customers and internal stakeholders to understand their business needs and help them achieve outcomes with your solutions and guidance. You will research all data sources concerning business operations and be responsible for outlining designs to integrate, centralize, and maintain the data. You will help to establish a new data engineering practice and be a technical leader within the Product organization.
Role Description
Help to drive our organizational data strategy, including data model designs, database development standards, implementation and management of data warehouses and data analytics systemsShare expertise by collaborating and coaching team members through code and design reviews to ensure code integration into systems is up to team standardsSet a positive example for the team by consistently shipping high quality solutions and maintaining a high standard of technical excellenceCoordinate and collaborate with development teams, stakeholders, and customers for smooth functioning of data systemsExtend and support a data engineering environment with a focus on developer experience that facilitates maximum efficiency, testing, and integrationMake recommendations for continuous improvement of our existing data and ETL processesParticipate in optimizing our end-to-end data architecture, from selection of technology, design, development, security, and testing of applicationsLead in the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, architecture diagrams and visualizations for development teams and internal stakeholdersReview best practices around data architecture with internal team membersKey Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or relevant work experienceMinimum 10 years' experience developing data applications, relational databases, and ETL platformsPrevious Experience building highly available and testable ETL systems that support critical business operationsExpert knowledge of data modeling, database design, and data warehousingExpert knowledge of SQL scriptingDemonstrates excellent spoken and written communication as well as receptive listening skillsAbility to present ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiencesAbility to shift priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesStrong ability to work independently or in a team-oriented, collaborative environmentAbility to take initiative and prioritize tasksExcellent time-management skillsStrong problem prevention, and problem-solving skillsAbility to effectively prioritize and execute tasksPreferred Skills
Computer science education or equivalent experienceHands-on experience with DatabricksHands-on experience with PowerBI report developmentHands-on experience and knowledge of the Python programming languageExperience processing and reporting against large amounts of financial data in a scalable fashionPublic cloud expertise and / or certifications - Azure, AWS, GCPHands-on experience with DevOps methodologies and concepts including CI / CD, IaC and automated testingThe estimated annual pay range for this position is $150,000 - $190,000 which includes a base salary. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
