Property & Casualty Field Adjuster – General Liability & Litigation Focus

We are representing an opportunity for an experienced Property & Casualty Field Adjuster to join a dedicated claims team. This role centers on the investigation, evaluation, and resolution of liability claims, with a strong emphasis on litigation-related matters. The position involves handling complex casualty claims, including those stemming from allegations such as civil rights violations by government officials, and requires skill in managing cases from initial investigation through resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Lead detailed investigations into liability claims by engaging with members, claimants, and involved departments; obtain statements; assess credibility; and identify potential fraud.
Oversee coverage and liability determinations, ensuring thorough analysis of facts, policy language, and applicable law.
Negotiate settlements directly with members, claimants, or their legal representatives, while maintaining appropriate reserves and producing settlement documentation.
Manage litigation-focused claims by coordinating with legal counsel, tracking case developments, and ensuring timely, strategic resolution.
Prepare comprehensive claim documentation in the claims system, maintain active claim diaries, and ensure proper digital filing of all correspondence and evidence.
Evaluate damages, calculate depreciation, and maintain reserves that accurately reflect exposure.
Identify and pursue subrogation opportunities, compiling documentation to substantiate recovery and working with appropriate vendors for resolution.
Participate in professional development through continuing education, industry seminars, and pursuit of professional designations to remain current on liability and litigation best practices.
Qualifications
Proven experience handling complex liability claims, including litigation and negotiation with legal representatives.
Strong understanding of coverage forms, policy language, and claims processes.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and documentation skills.
Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a field-based environment.
