Automotive Service Manager – Domestic Dealership

Outside of Birmingham, AL -

A well-established, family-owned dealership group is seeking an experienced Automotive Service Manager with a background in domestic brands to take a high-demand service department to the next level. The demand is here. The space is here. What’s missing is the right leader to take it all to the next level.

The store has a strong foundation already in place : loyal customers, strong foundation of technicians, and a dedicated service BDC. The shop is booked out several weeks in advance - creating a tremendous opportunity for a motivated, process-driven leader to build on this success. With available capacity to expand the team, the next Service Manager will focus on recruiting and developing technicians, filling empty stalls, and maximizing department performance. If you’re the kind of leader who thrives on growth, wants to build, and won’t settle for the status quo, this is your shot.

The Dealer Principal will support the Service Manager hired to get their job done without micromanagement.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead, train, and motivate service advisors, technicians, and support staff to achieve department goals
  • Recruit, hire, and develop technicians to fill open stalls and meet customer demand
  • Oversee daily operations of the service department, ensuring efficiency and profitability
  • Maintain strong focus on process, workflow, and effective scheduling to maximize shop capacity
  • Monitor key performance metrics (ELR, hours per RO, CSI, retention, productivity, efficiency)
  • Work closely with the BDC to manage appointment flow and reduce wait times
  • Drive sales of service, parts, and warranty work while ensuring quality repairs and customer satisfaction
  • Handle escalated customer concerns and maintain high CSI scores
  • Ensure compliance with OEM standards, warranty processes, and safety regulations
  • Collaborate with parts and sales departments to support fixed and variable operations
  • Implement modern technology and best practices to streamline operations
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, expense control, and department profitability

    • Compensation :

  • Compensation will be in the $145,000 - $180,000 range with significant room for growth.
