The Role :
A Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe, professional, and efficient manner to support solar construction and earthmoving operations. Equipment may include front-end loaders, dozers, excavators, skid steers, graders, compactors, telehandlers, and related machinery. The Heavy Equipment Operator ensures that all work meets safety, environmental, and operational standards while maintaining positive relationships with clients and landowners.
Key Responsibilities :
- Operate heavy equipment in support of solar construction, grading, trenching, and restoration
- Excavate trenches with attention to depth, slope, and terrain variation
- Load and unload soil, rock, and waste materials; transport to proper locations
- Restore pipeline rights-of-way (ROWs) or disturbed land to pre-construction conditions
- Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance of equipment
- Identify mechanical issues and report for repair as needed
- Support material handling and other manual tasks when not operating equipment
- Use mobile radios to coordinate on-site activities
- Train less-experienced operators in safe equipment use
- Work under limited supervision and complete assigned tasks independently
- Maintain safety, efficiency, and quality standards at all times
Requirements :
High school diploma or GEDMinimum of three (3) years of experience operating and maintaining heavy equipmentProficiency with motorized construction equipmentValid driver’s license with a clean driving recordWorking knowledge of grades and reading blueprintsKnowledge of pipeline or solar site construction techniquesExperience with compaction, trenching, and restoring land conditionsAbility to safely operate front-end loaders, dozers, excavators, graders, skid steers, compactors, and telehandlersStrong understanding of truck and equipment safetyAbility to lift and move up to 75 lbsComfortable working outdoors in various weather conditionsAbility to complete and maintain accurate daily inspection and activity reportsWillingness to travel 100% of the time to customer locations and job sitesAbility to work independently and remain alert in a safety-critical environmentPerks & Benefits :

Outdoor work in all weather conditions, exposure to equipment vibration / noise, extended shifts may be required
