Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the hydropower engineering practice in the SoCal area, including client and business development activities, proposals and pursuits, and serving as PM or technical lead on projects.
- Grow the local hydropower team in SoCal and collaborate with other Areas and teams for successful project execution.
- Develop and implement a hydropower growth plan in coordination with SoCal Resources and Water teams, the National Hydropower Practice, and Power Sector teams.
- Participate in engineering business development activities including proposal development as champion and / or reviewer; engage actively in industry groups (e.g., National Hydropower Association).
- Oversee operations : grow and manage hydro engineering and design teams within SoCal's Resources business group, coordinate activities across hydropower engineering staff, and align with the National Hydropower Practice.
- Contribute to growth strategies and multi-year hiring plans aligned with opportunities in hydropower and client satisfaction.
- Provide project oversight, participate in project reviews, and serve as Principal-In-Charge for projects; act as project manager on strategic, complex projects to maintain client connections.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Master's in Engineering or Business Administration a plus.CA Professional Engineering registration (Electrical, Mechanical or Civil).15 years of relevant experience, including 10 years in hydropower, dam safety, or hydropower-related work.Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand.Experience in business development and maintaining / growing client relationships; established relationships with hydropower clients is highly desirable.Demonstrated consulting business or professional services operations experience, including managing multi-discipline project teams.Strong project execution experience with schedule, budget, quality management, and client satisfaction monitoring.Solid business management skills and ability to navigate a matrix organization.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Required Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field; 10 years of experience.Committed to quality, HDR values; maintains professional / engineering registration and related technical experience.Experience in development and management of diverse teams; works cooperatively with area leaders and managers on business class efforts.Active participant in HDR's employee-owned culture.What We Believe / Our Commitment
