We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support our payroll operations. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of payroll processing across multiple states and subsidiaries. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and analytical skills, and a solid understanding of payroll processes and multi-state payroll regulations. The candidate should demonstrate accuracy, integrity, and the ability to work under deadlines.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks include :
- Payroll Processing : Accurately prepare and process multi-state payroll, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Payroll Tax Management : Assist in preparing and reviewing payroll tax filings such as W-2s, quarterly tax filings, and other required employee forms.
- Employee Payroll Changes : Enter and maintain updates for new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes, confirming accuracy to HR and benefits records prior to finalizing.
- Maintain Payroll Records : Keep accurate payroll files to ensure proper record retention for compliance and audit purposes.
- Compliance and Reporting : Ensure all payroll activities comply with internal policies and external regulations. Prepare and submit necessary payroll reports to management and regulatory bodies.
- Issue Resolution : Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Continuous Improvement : Identify opportunities to improve payroll workflows and reduce errors; stay current with payroll best practices.
Certifications : Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
Educational Requirements : Associate's degree preferred.
Years of Experience : At least 2 years of payroll experience
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
Knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, and payroll taxes.Experience working in payroll systems; experience in ADP a plus.Experience working in an M&A environment a plus.Knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.Strong organizational and time management skills.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.Experience generating reports.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced, growth business environment.Ability to maintain confidentiality; handle sensitive information.
