Salary : $21 / hr
Under the supervision of the Transportation Coordinator, the employee is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of PACE participants. Including transport of participants, meals, durable medical equipment, pharmacy, and any other transportation as deemed necessary. Responsible for the overall cleanliness and safety of the vehicle assigned daily. Responsible for communicating any safety issues to the Transportation Coordinator.
Qualifications and Requirements :
Education / Training / Certifications :
- A current State of California Class B Commercial Drivers License (with P endorsement for multiple passengers)
- Safe and clean driving records within the past 3 years are required
- Ability to obtain an LA DOT city permit
- Current BLS certificate required
Experience : Minimum of 1 year transporting the frail and elderly or driver training specific to PACE.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Responsible for PACE passengers during transport, providing care in a manner that ensures participant satisfaction.Follows assigned schedule, makes adjustments to meet unanticipated changes while considering the needs of the participant and requirements of the PACE Center. Communicates these changes to the Transportation Coordinator or designee.Operates equipment safely and in compliance with vehicle licensing regulations.Maintains and completes daily required records, such as Pre and Post Trip Inspections, gasoline purchases, etc.Immediately reports to the Transportation Coordinator any vehicle or cell phone operating problems, malfunctions, or incidents.Transports participants to and from medical / specialist appointments and activity outings as requested by the interdisciplinary team per established transportation request process.Transports meals, durable medical equipment, pharmacy, home care supplies, or other items deemed necessary.Provides physical assistance to each participant when needed as s / he boards and disembarks from the programs vehicles. Provides door-through-door assistance.Inspects the vehicle at the end of each day and maintains the vehicle in a neat and clean condition.Ensures vehicle equipment is maintained and operating within manufacturers recommendations, replacing supplies as needed.Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team when requested.Communicates with the Transportation Coordinator or designee daily to be updated on participant conditions / changes, plan of care changes, or interdisciplinary team requests.Follows policies and procedures and OSHA safety guidelines.Maintains the confidentiality of all company procedures, results, and information about participants, clients, or families.Handles potentially infectious fluids (e.g., blood, urine, emesis) with appropriate biohazard precautions and practices Standard Precautions.Participates in and supports Quality Improvement initiatives.Participates in continuing education classes and any required staff and training meetings.Maintains any required certifications or licenses.Performs other duties as required or requested.
