Torch is seeking a Principal Mechanical / Electrical Engineer to provide advisory and assistance services in support of a DOD ACAT I program. The successful candidate will have experience in systems engineering responsibilities, acting as a central point for technical oversight of work developing carriage & release equipment responsible for interfacing a major weapons system with its host aircraft. The role involves leading the Functional Configuration Audit and System Verification Review. Carriage and release equipment is a critical component involving significant mechanical and electrical engineering work. Candidates with a Mechanical (BSME), Electrical (BSEE), or Systems Engineering degree are suitable if they demonstrate good technical judgment across disciplines and know when to seek support from other specialists. Experience in an Air Force program office is beneficial but not required.

Role and Responsibilities

• Support DOD systems engineering reviews such as functional configuration audits and system verification reviews.
• Review contractor test plans, processes, and results; provide technical feedback to ensure system requirements are met.
• Review contractor drawings and specifications for clarity and completeness; collaborate to ensure documentation meets program requirements.
• Oversee contractor plans for manufacturing, operation, maintenance, and disposal of the system.
• Support decision analysis, requirements management, and risk management following the Air Force Systems Engineering Assessment Model.
• Ensure proper planning, readiness, and documentation for technical reviews.
• Evaluate trade studies, advising leadership on risks and impacts related to supportability, cost, and schedule.
• Maintain program documentation, reports, and presentations; deliver technical briefings to program leadership.
