Description and Responsibilities

Adult Community Clinical Services (ACCS) is a Department of Mental Health (DMH) funded service that is designed to deliver evidence-based interventions within the context of a clinically focused model. Individuals served reside in the community, both in their own homes and in group living environments (GLEs). ACCS Teams are multidisciplinary, and include clinicians, substance abuse counselors, nurses, peer staff, housing counselors, outreach counselors, and direct care staff.

The Sign Language Interpreter will provide ASL interpretation to support our team in providing services to Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals as part of the ACCS program. There are two Deaf positions within the team and the rest are hearing staff. Part of this position will be enabling the communication between the Deaf and hearing staff and sometimes between Deaf individuals and hearing staff from the integrated team. This position is primarily in person in the Leominster and Worcester regions. The Sign Language Interpreter will :

• Interpreting staff trainings both virtually and in-person
• Interpreting a variety of meetings among staff members
• Interpreting team meetings between individuals served by the program and members of our integrated team
• Interpreting clinical assessments between individuals served and our clinical staff members
• Interpreting for small group gatherings between individuals served and staff
• Traveling to individual's homes or locations in the community on occasion to interpret between hearing staff and Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing individuals served
• Working in collaboration with external interpreters for assignments requiring a second interpreter
• Providing education to trainers and meeting leaders regarding providing a deaf-friendly atmosphere at the beginning of each training or meeting
• Adhering to the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf Code of Ethics and Code of Professional Conduct

This position will be 8 hours per week, schedule to be determined with additional hours available depending on need of program.
