MISSION
This Operations Manager role exists to lead a high-performing team in a 24 / 5 coil processing facility, serving as second-in-command to the General Manager. As Ryerson’s Carrollton site evolves into a regional hub, this leader will ensure safety, efficiency, and people development remain front and center while scaling throughput across upgraded capital equipment and expanded distribution reach.
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
Safety Leadership – Sustain and build upon a historically strong safety record; engage frontline teams in proactive safety culture and SOP adherence.
People Development – Coach and stabilize a team of ~40 employees across three shifts; transition temp labor to full-time; improve retention and morale through day-to-day leadership and clarity of purpose.
Production Execution – Ensure on-time, cost-effective coil slitting and cut-to-length operations across upgraded lines; optimize first and second shift throughput.
Fulfillment & Logistics – Oversee order fulfillment and third-shift shipping; coordinate truckload scheduling for 8+ flatbeds delivering across Texas and regional hubs.
Process Improvement – Lead continuous improvement in productivity, lean practices, and flow; drive ROI on recent $10M investment in equipment and facility upgrades.
Succession Planning – Transition knowledge from retiring 39-year veteran Ops Manager; build continuity and elevate emerging leaders within the operation.
FIT TRAITS
Leadership – Boots-on-the-ground presence; visible, hands-on leader who earns trust and takes initiative.
Service – Prioritizes safety and team wellbeing; acts as a steward of both people and process.
Growth-Oriented – Comfortable in a scaling environment; engages constructively with change and continuous improvement.
Calm Under Pressure – Thrives in a fast-paced, operational setting with competing priorities.
