Description : Responsible for the supervision and management of the food service area. Supervises and manages all kitchen staff to include Job Corps and Work-Based Learning students assigned to the department.

Responsibilities

• Manages and oversees the overall Center food preparation activities to include the Student Store / Snack Bar.
• Manages the dining room, to include student monitors, student behavior and Food Service department.
• Ensures quality control, plans menus, coordinates food purchases and manages the food service budget.
• Oversees food preparation for special functions.
• Researches, develops and recommends new menu items.
• Coordinates the preparation and availability of box lunches for Work Based Learning students and students off Center for other reasons.
• Ensures compliance with all USDOL and Job Corps guidelines and directives.
• Ensures sanitation compliance and the overall cleanliness of all food service areas.
• Ensures compliance with OSHA standards and applicable state and local health department guidelines related to food handling, preparation, serving and sanitation.
• Responsible to operate the evening snack program.
• May transport students to and from Center.
• Interviews and recommends for hire, disciplines and evaluates performance of the direct report staff. Fills staff vacancies in a timely manner.
• Motivates, empowers and directs staff to perform responsibilities; uses time-management and delegation effectively; holds staff accountable for quality work; develops staff for career progression; disciplines for unmet goals.
• Provides required / supplemental training for new and current employees.
• Creates a positive work environment, recognizes staff accomplishments and addresses performance concerns.
• Provides supervision for the student population and ensures quality services are provided to meet student needs.
• Exchanges ideas clearly in writing and speech, contributes to group efforts, and provides timely information to DOL / Company when requested.
• Identifies problems, analyzes causes, evaluates solutions, and follows up to ensure corrective action.
• Works with staff from all Departments to ensure effective supervision and services for students.
• Accepts direction from the Center Director / Center Duty Officer / Shift Manager and may temporarily perform responsibilities in other departments.
• Other duties as assigned.
