Description
Summary : To assemble, calibrate, and test precision units for machine tools. Including headstock, spindles, turrets, ball screws, magazines, and other subassemblies for installation on machine tools.
Essential functions :
- Clean and inspect parts prior to assembly
- Set preloads on various types of bearings using precision equipment
- Inspect and measure all parts needed for the unit to be assembled; adjust parts by grinding to obtain correct preloads
- Assemble units taking many measurements with precision equipment during process
- Balance spindle assemblies on balancing equipment
- Attach subassembly parts to prepare unit for testing
- Test operate unit
- Conduct precision measurements using various precision gauges
- Maintain clean and orderly work area
- Use of crane to lift various units
- Transport units using walk behind fork truck
