Description :

The Credit Specialist supports the Commercial Lending staff in evaluating and processing credit applications. This Credit Specialist will perform various clerical tasks, collecting documentation, communicating with clients, and data entry tasks to help ensure a smooth flow of the credit analysis process and compliance with the Bank policies and regulations. Key skills for this role include strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and customer service abilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assists Commercial Lending and Commercial Underwriting Staff as directed with various administrative and organizational tasks, including but not limited to preparing reports, making phone calls and / or sending emails to clients or vendors, organizing documents, copying, filing, scanning, and preparing agendas.
  • Assists Loan Production Team in all areas related to loan closings, including but not limited to ordering title work, pulling flood certificates, tracking borrowing bases, maintaining and clearing ticklers, preparing closing statements, and preparing checklists.
  • Requests bids and orders residential and commercial appraisals, ensuring adherence to Bank policies and federal and state regulations. Presents bids to the Credit Administration Team for review.
  • Orders and prepares Automated Valuation Models for review by the Credit Administration Team.
  • Creates and maintains credit history files, including but not limited to pulling loan applicants’ credit reports from approved Bank vendors and verifying customers’ credit standing from information in the report.
  • Supports the maintenance of credit records and documentation in compliance with company policies and regulations, including but not limited to updating financial statement letters, tracking receipt of financials, loan covenant compliance and borrowing base certificates.
  • Tracks and maintains the Bank’s Approved Appraisers list ensuring the Bank maintains copies of all required documents, including but not limited to Appraisers’ current E&O Insurance and state licenses.
  • Collects and prepares personal finance statements, portfolio turnover rate, and business financial statements from customers.
  • Prepares documentation for review by the Credit Administrative Team for loan applicants borrowing up to $250,000.00.
  • Assists with other credit activities including, but not limited to, property inspections, construction advances, tickler items, and exam preparation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management based on abilities and performance.

Requirements :

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a business-related field and / or 2 to 3 years of banking related experience and / or training required.

Computer literacy required, including adept experience with Microsoft Office programs and Fiserv software. Knowledge of bank regulation and compliance is required.

Strong organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills required. Must be highly motivated, able to work independently, extremely detail oriented, and capable of executing tactical plans in line with strategic objectives. Must have a team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and grow within the organization.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and implement regulations and laws, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and document or track the status of requests. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and / or problems and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid driver’s license required for travel to Bank offices, training sessions, customer meetings, Bank meetings, and community meetings, etc.

The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.

This position will be based out of the Grimes, Iowa Office and travel as necessary. Must be willing to work Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 am to 4 : 30 pm. Some evening hours and weekends may be required upon request.
