Full-Time Lecturer - Materials Engineering (AY 24 / 25)

The Materials Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, is seeking a full time lecturer for the 24 / 25 academic year with the possibility of a one-year extension, contingent upon department need and satisfactory evaluations. Responsibilities include teaching core and elective materials engineering courses.

Responsibilities

  • Teach core and elective materials engineering courses for the 24 / 25 academic year, with potential for a one-year extension based on department needs and evaluations.

Qualifications

  • Master\'s in Materials Science and Engineering or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching, and ability to collaboratively work in multidisciplinary settings.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference given to candidates with experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Preference given to candidates with relevant work experience and professional capabilities.

    • Special Conditions

  • The person holding this position is a \'mandated reporter\' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
  • After a conditional offer, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in withdrawal of the offer. Cal Poly cannot deny an applicant a position solely due to conviction history until an individualized assessment is performed.
