American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position with a strong background in acute care and required certifications in BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS.
Responsibilities
Position is in an acute care Emergency Department settingThe unit consists of 24 beds with 0 trauma bays and provides care for a high-volume ED with approximately 250 visits per dayPatient ratios range from 2 : 1 to 4 : 1Travelers primarily work in the main ER, not fast trackFlexible 12-hour mid-shifts with evening and weekend requirements; every other weekend is required and could include Fri-Sun depending on staffing needsHoliday coverage will be included in rotation as neededUses Cerner PowerChart for electronic medical recordsTelemetry monitoring equipment is used with 22 hardwired GE monitors available in-room and at the nurses' stationVentilator support provided with RT maintaining equipment; pharmacy and RT available 24 / 7No on-call or floating requiredA one-day floor-specific orientation is providedCharge nurses are present and do not take a patient assignmentThe ED receives STEMI, cardiac, stroke, sepsis, DKA, alcohol-related, and general medical patientsCare is organized into fast track, anticipated disposition, and acute care areasER techs, phlebotomists, and other support staff are present for technical duties and patient supportHoliday work will be rotated with permanent staff and assigned as department needsBlue scrubs are required for RNsFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyNo inpatient pediatric or behavioral health unit in the facilityReturning travelers cannot have been employed directly by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility in the past yearRequirements
