We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Memphis, Tennessee. This role involves supporting our accounting and finance department by performing month-end closings, reconciling accounts, recording financial transactions, and assisting with audits. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of accounting principles and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities :

• Prepare and maintain detailed account reconciliations, analyze monthly activity, and post accurate journal entries.
• Record cash receipts and expense transactions while ensuring proper coding and documentation.
• Collaborate with Operations and Accounts Payable to ensure proper expense coding and its impact on the general ledger.
• Conduct daily and monthly reconciliations to support financial reporting and reviews.
• Assist in the review of monthly account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Support audits by preparing schedules, conducting research, and generating necessary reports.
• Calculate allocation entries and gather supporting documentation for journal entries.
• Protect sensitive financial information by adhering to confidentiality standards.
• Contribute to department goals by completing assigned tasks promptly and in line with the monthly close schedule.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as needed to support the organization.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• At least two years of relevant accounting experience.
• Solid understanding of general ledger processes and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Office 365 applications.
• Experience with computer-based accounting systems; knowledge of NetSuite is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Self-motivated with excellent time management and attention to detail.
