Salary : 18.97 to start w / o Sanitarian Cert.

The Monroe County Health Department / Monroe Health Center is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a full time County Sanitarian. This role is critical in protecting and promoting public health by ensuring compliance with environmental health regulations throughout the county.

• Qualifications :
• Bachelors Degree required.
• Must be a West Virginia Registered Sanitarian or have the ability to complete the WV State Sanitarian Training Course and pass the exam (course costs covered by the Health Department).
• Valid drivers license required (county vehicle provided for work-related travel).
• Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
• Key Responsibilities :
• Respond to public inquiries regarding environmental health concerns.
• Conduct evaluations and inspections of facilities within environmental health programs.
• Review plans and specifications and issue permits as warranted.
• Collaborate with community partners and local government officials to address environmental health concerns.
• Attend regional and state meetings as needed to stay informed and represent the county.

• Work Environment :

As a County Sanitarian, you will play a vital role in safeguarding community health through environmental oversight. The position involves travel within the county (vehicle provided) and requires strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
