Overview

This position serves as the primary service contact for the client and is responsible for client satisfaction including marketing and analytical support. This position is expected to consistently provide excellent customer service to accounts, as well as represent client needs and goals within the organization to ensure quality.

Major Responsibilities

  • Manage a book of business comprised of locally and nationally located clients, mostly fully insured, with some self-insured clients.
  • Act as the primary contact between clients and insurance carriers; retain clients through customer service with open and clear communication channels among clients, producers, and internal partners. Ensure accurate and timely responses between all parties.
  • Manage the marketing process including obtaining client census and quotes, preparing and submitting bid specifications, and evaluating results to prepare recommendations for clients.
  • Create client proposals with current and renewal details and marketplace options. Communicate final placement details and instructions to insurers and customers.
  • Utilize analytical tools to develop alternative strategies, plan modeling and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Identify problems, summarize and develop strategic solutions aligned with the company culture, mission, and future staffing needs.
  • Support and contribute to strategic conversations initiated by Sales Producers during internal and external client meetings.
  • Attend client meetings on site at client locations as needed.
  • Prepare materials for client meetings, including agendas, reports, and calendars based on USI templates.
  • Maintain regular client contact as established by the client service calendar and renewal timeline through electronic, telephonic, and in-person methods.
  • Educate, advise, and assist clients on all compliance topics including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, 5500s, and Health Care Reform.
  • Understand and communicate USI value propositions such as Population Health Management, Analytics, and Benefit Resource Center.
  • Communicate due dates, timelines, and expectations to clients and partners.
  • Install new group insurance contracts for existing or new clients, matching client needs with available resources.
  • Administer renewals, including preparing appropriate contractual changes.
  • Conduct on-site meetings to communicate benefit plans to employees and / or administrators.
  • Develop employee memorandum drafts for annual renewal changes, enrollment procedures, and other benefit changes or clarifications.
  • Provide resolution support and oversight of employee issues such as enrollment and billing.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in employee benefits industry or related marketplace.
  • 4-year college degree or industry-specific designation preferred.
  • Prior customer service experience is preferred.
  • Must currently hold life and disability insurance license (or obtain within 4 months of employment) and retain license by meeting continuing education requirements.
  • High level of computer literacy including working knowledge of Windows, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to set priorities and manage workflow independently to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate processing of transactions.
  • Enthusiastic, cooperative team player with professional demeanor and strong client focus.
  • Effective communication and guidance to achieve business goals; develop and maintain carrier relationships.
  • Promote teamwork and maintain a positive, professional attitude.
  • Strong problem-solving ability, independent decision-making, deadline setting, and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing industry education and knowledge of new products, legislation, coverage, and technology.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills; attention to detail and ability to self-check work.
  • Ability to carry out complex tasks with multiple variables.
