  • Job Summary

    Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring an Associate Dean for Workforce and Experiential Learning. This position provides dedicated leadership to expand and coordinate programs that connect students with real-world career experiences. This position will work with external partners to help oversee initiatives such as apprenticeships, internships, undergraduate research, project-based learning, and the MakerSpace, ensuring alignment with academic programs and industry needs. This position also collaborates with faculty, staff, administrators, and employers to strengthen partnerships, support innovative curriculum, and create high-impact opportunities that promote student engagement, retention, and career readiness.

    Essential Functions

    35% - Provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of workforce and experiential learning programs, including apprenticeships, non-credit to credit pathways, internships, project-based learning, and undergraduate research. Ensure alignment with labor market needs, student career goals, and institutional priorities.

    25% - Serve as primary liaison to external partners, industry, and community stakeholders by cultivating and maintaining partnerships, coordinating partner engagement in curriculum and student opportunities, and representing the college in regional and district-wide workforce initiatives.

    15% - Supervise, support, evaluate, and hire staff involved in the Workforce and Experiential Learning office, MakerSpace, and STEM Center of Excellence by providing leadership, direction, and alignment with strategic goals to ensure quality support for applied learning and innovation initiatives.

    15% - Collaborate with faculty, staff, and instructional leadership to integrate workforce and experiential learning into academic programs by supporting curriculum development, aligning instructional content with employer needs, and promoting cross-functional partnerships across academic areas. This includes facilitating professional development opportunities that help faculty embed applied learning, industry-relevant practices, and real-world problem-solving into their courses.

    10% - Develop and manage budgets, grants, and reporting for workforce and experiential learning, including identifying funding opportunities, monitoring budgets, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting in compliance with institutional and grant requirements.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications for Student Affairs or non-academic pathway :

    Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or field related to area of assignment and four (4) years of full-time equivalent progressively responsible management and / or leadership experience in field of assignment that includes two (2) years of supervisory experience.

    Examples of student affairs academic support management / leadership experience include : program management, project management, budget development and management related to programs or projects, staff supervision, policy development, administration, evaluation, and compliance. No degree equivalency.

    OR

    Minimum Qualifications for Academic pathway :

    Master's Degree in a teaching field related to area(s) of assignment and four (4) years of full-time equivalent experience in an academic leadership and / or supervisory role in higher education, and three (3) years of teaching that includes curriculum / coursework development. Examples of academic leadership / supervisory experience include : division / department chair, project management, policy development, administration, evaluation and compliance, committee leadership, program director, and shared governance. No degree equivalency.

    An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered

    Desired Qualifications

  • Three years of documented experience developing and managing partnerships with industry, government, community organizations, and faculty to support workforce development, curriculum alignment, internships, apprenticeships, or non-credit-to-credit transitions.
  • Three years of demonstrated leadership or coordination of experiential learning initiatives, such as undergraduate research programs, internships, project-based learning, organizing events, and / or oversight of maker-centered learning environments.
  • Three years of experience managing grants or budgets (federal, state, or private foundations), including compliance, reporting, and alignment with institutional or project goals.
  • Three years of experience supervising or mentoring staff, including performance evaluation, team building, or oversight of cross-functional project teams.
  • Three years of professional experience demonstrating effective collaboration and communication across internal departments or with external partners, such as serving on cross-campus committees, leading multi-stakeholder initiatives, or managing external outreach efforts.
  • Special Working Conditions

    May be required to work at multiple sites or locations
