Security Officer Job Summary
Responsible for ensuring the safety of patients, visitors, and staff by patrolling the premises, monitoring security systems, and responding to security incidents. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes. Essential Functions include conducting regular patrols of the healthcare facility, maintaining a visible presence and providing a sense of security, monitoring surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and access control systems, reporting any security-related incidents, hazards, or policy violations promptly to appropriate personnel, and controlling access to the facility by verifying identification, issuing visitor passes, and ensuring that only authorized individuals enter designated areas.
Qualifications
Education : High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No. Licenses and Credentials : Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License [State License] - Generic - HR Only preferred, Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred, Certified Healthcare Security Officer [CHSO] - International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety preferred, Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor [CHSS] - International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety preferred, Personal Drivers License (New Hampshire) - New Hampshire Division of Motor Vehicles preferred, MGH Security RMV Check / Registry of Motor Vehicles Driving Report - MGB Internal preferred. Experience : Experience in security operations, preferably in a healthcare or similar setting. 2-3 years preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Strong observation and situational awareness skills to identify potential security threats or hazards, excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with individuals at all levels, ability to remain calm and make sound judgments in high-pressure situations, basic knowledge of emergency response procedures and first aid techniques, familiarity with security systems, such as CCTV, access control, and alarm systems, physical fitness and the ability to walk or stand for extended periods.
