To lead and ensure accurate investment accounting, regulatory and financial reporting and analysis to the Enterprise.

Primary Job Responsibilities :

  • Creates, analyzes and records statutory journal entries for the quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Records and reviews journal entries and reconciles investment accounts for multiple affiliated companies. Communicates and resolves investment accounting and reporting issues with the affiliated investment advisor and BPO investment accounting vendor.
  • Prepares and reviews all aspects of the statutory quarterly and annual statements, including all supporting schedules as it relates to investments.
  • Researches technical investment accounting and reporting issues.
  • Assists in the annual audits and regulatory financial examinations and acts as a liaison with the external auditors relating to the audits and the financial statements.
  • Ensures financial reporting system and general ledger fields are properly updated.
  • Identifies and recommends process improvements and procedural changes to enhance the Finance department effectiveness.
  • Determines the impact of regulations on GAAP and Statutory reporting requirements.
  • Leads the development of the annual budget and ongoing forecasts for assigned departments and affiliates.
  • Analyzes and interprets cost and expense variances to management. Works with management to contain costs and forecast expenses.
  • Creates monthly management reporting package with financial statements and supporting documentation and analysis. Assists with preparing necessary documents for Board of Director and Finance Committee meetings and reporting to outside partners.

Minimum Requirements : Position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field and a minimum of five years' experience in corporate financial accounting, finance, investments and / or public accounting. Experience with statutory accounting and investments accounting and related software is preferred. A certified public accountant (CPA) or certified management accountant (CMA) designation is also preferred. Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience.
