One of the largest global insurance brokers is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their Enterprise Data & Analytics Infrastructure team. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Chicago, IL. The company is modernizing its data ecosystem with Google Cloud Platform and Terraform, making it a very ideal opportunity for an engineer passionate about cloud-native solutions and large-scale enterprise data initiatives.
This role is more than just pipelines and queries-it's about leading transformation. You'll help decommission legacy systems, establish modern CI / CD practices, and build data products that fuel analytics and machine learning initiatives. This opportunity is exciting because you will play a critical role in shaping a cloud-first environment at massive enterprise scale, while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to innovation across the organization.
Required Skills & Experience
- 7-15 years of progressive experience in data engineering or analytics infrastructure
- Strong hands-on expertise with Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Dataform, Cloud Composer, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage)
- Proficiency with Terraform for IaC across GCP environments
- Advanced SQL, star / snowflake schema modeling, and ELT pipeline development
- Experience with Python and frameworks like DBT
- Strong understanding of CI / CD practices (Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, Terraform Cloud)
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
Desired Skills & Experience
