Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Job Description Position Summary :
Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide assistance and support to individuals with developmental disabilities in order to help them live as independently as possible.
DSPs promote dignity, choice, and inclusion while ensuring health, safety, and quality of life.
Responsibilities :
Support individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and housekeeping.
Provide assistance with medication reminders (as applicable and per training).
Encourage skill development, independence, and community involvement.
Support individuals in attending appointments, work, and recreational activities.
Document services provided, progress toward goals, and any incidents in compliance with agency and regulatory requirements.
Maintain a safe and respectful environment that promotes well-being and inclusion.
Communicate effectively with individuals, families, and team members to ensure consistent quality of care.
Uphold confidentiality, rights, and dignity of all individuals served.
Qualifications :
High School Diploma or GED is required.
At least 18 years of age.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (as required by specific assignments).
Ability to pass background checks and meet training requirements.
Compassionate, reliable, and committed to supporting others.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
Ability to stand, bend, or remain mobile for extended periods.
Schedule :
Flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and overnights as assigned.
