Accounting Supervisor
The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing and supervising all financial aspects of the department, including the budget process, accounting and auditing of all financial transactions and direct cash flow. A criminal background check is required.
Essential Duties
- Prepare, implement and monitor budget.
- Monitor cost allocations, develop and update budgets, prepare reports and statistical data, as needed.
- Handle and process the fiscal close for the county and grantor agencies.
- Prepare financial reports, as necessary (e.g., Financial Status Reports and Requests for Funds for Grantor Agencies).
- Prepare and input of budget changes and journal entries.
- Research and prepare fiscal and statistical inquiries and reports, as necessary.
- Prepare requisitions and vouchers.
- Maintain property inventory and prepare annual report to grantor agencies.
- Assist in monitoring subcontractors.
- Act as fiscal liaison between department, fiscal department and fiscal departments of grantor agencies.
- Perform audit reviews and implement resolutions, as necessary.
- Maintain appropriate records for monitoring and reconciling individual grant data.
- Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.
Qualifications / Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Qualifications / Requirements :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Six years of job-related experience.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent organizational skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Accurate and detail oriented.Strong working knowledge of budgets, spreadsheets and interpreting audits.Ability to maintain confidential information and handle confidential matters.Easily adapts to changes in the work environment.Exhibits sound and accurate judgement.Basic skill to use a personal computer and various software packages.Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Government Accounting or related field.Five to 10 years of financial management experience.Five years of professional level accounting experience.Experience in Government Accounting. Knowledgeable about current and prospective accounting.Strong interpersonal skills.Strong professional ethics.Ability to work independently and proceed with objectives.General knowledge and understanding of County of Chester policies and procedures.Strong leadership skills.Proactive.Flexibility.Additional Information
