Substance Use Disorder Counselor

Overview

Join Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board as a Full-Time Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor, onsite in Hampton, VA. CSAC holder or CSAC-eligible candidates are welcome. The role supports individuals with substance use disorders in outpatient settings, local jails, or the Newport News Drug Court programs.

Pay and Schedule

Base pay range : $48,317.00 / yr - $54,371.00 / yr

Annual Salary : $48,317 (CSAC Eligible or CSAC Supervisee); $54,371 (With CSAC)

Work Schedule : Monday - Friday, 7 : 00am - 3 : 30pm

Responsibilities

• Manage a predetermined caseload within an outpatient setting, local jails, or the Newport News Drug Court programs.
• Conduct intake assessments, diagnose conditions, craft treatment plans, and maintain records.
• Provide individual, group, and family counseling; conduct educational sessions and discharge / aftercare planning.
• Engage in crisis intervention and case management; liaise between the criminal justice system and treatment agencies.
• Conduct regular counseling sessions; develop treatment and discharge plans; complete progress notes.
• Participate in Drug Court sessions with clients to support rehabilitation.
