Quality Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
The jobholder is responsible for the implementation, management and improvement of the quality management system at BMZ USA. They must sustain processes for continual improvement, develop methods for preventing failures in the manufacturing process and take a leadership role in problem solving processes for cross functional teams.
The job holder is responsible for managing and processing all supplier and customer complaints at BMZ USA. They will be the primary point of contact for quality related issues. This includes, but is not limited to introducing, coordinating and monitoring of corrective actions. The Jobholder also has to manage the service activities and report the Quality KPIs to management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Build strong, working relationships with major stakeholders, such as customers, suppliers and in-house development teams, to ensure complete and transparent communication and support
Manage BMZ USA’s Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure compliance with all relevant certifications (i.e. ISO 9001)
Create, analyze and evaluate quality concepts depending on customer requirements, supplier expertise and ensure quality standards are met within the new product development process
Execute sampling with application of QM techniques, APQP with FMEA, Control plan
Execute / moderate FMEA’s including tracking measures and presentation to the customer
Create and evaluate control plans in the sample and series phase
Create specifications for parts sampling from suppliers
Counter measure of samples (e.g. PPAP Sample, FAI Sample)
Assist with new product introduction, including representing the customer, supporting and managing pre-production trial runs and first off sample approvals
Promote the use for continuous improvement such as Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), and Measurement System Analysis
Coordinate and report quality or improvement projects, including leading quality meetings
Process complaints through the use of advanced quality concepts, such as 8D methodology, seven tools of Ishikawa and the 5 Why process
Investigate faults and determine extent of potential recall
Report findings to the customer (root causes, containment measures and corrective actions)
Evaluate the root cause of a complaint and ensure continuous improvements are created and completed.
Manage, create, and coordinate customer and supplier PPM (Parts per Million), cost recovery and key performance indicator (KPI`s)
Maintain records to oversee the recording of information by others to ensure engineering drawings and documents are current and that engineering related production problems and resolutions are documented
Perform training of quality related topics
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in a Quality or Engineering field or 4+ years of related experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be fluent in English and able to communicate with others effectively.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products.
Experience dealing with customers and suppliers (internal and external)
Knowledge of quality systems including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control plan, and ISO 9001
Understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes
Problem solving and teamwork skills in a diverse and dynamic environment
Planning and prioritizing activities
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Self-supervising within the guidance and expectations of divisional management
Ability to present data effectively
Understanding of cost and financial impacts
Good understanding of customer expectations and deliverables with an awareness of the impact of failure / cost of poor quality
VALUED BUT NOT REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Bilingual (German)
Experience with FaroArm (coordinate measuring machine / 3D measurement)
Experience with QuickBooks
Previous experience in a high volume manufacturing environment, preferably automotive
Experience with Lithium-Ion batteries
Knowledge of the IATF16949
Understanding of Health and Safety practices
Commercial and financial awareness

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to some mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock.
