Director Of Business Operations

Veterinary Medicine (Vet Med). The unit has an annual budget of approximately $95M. This position will lead the Business Office staff to provide financial increased automaticity in financial reporting which involves interfacing with ITS, Finance and Accounting, and other departments to automate currently manual processes. This position also is responsible for leading the team to create monthly reports, including Profit and Loss statements and visual reporting, in order to guide managerial accounting decisions. This position requires a high level of organization, good communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Job Responsibilities :

55%- Works directly with the VTH administration to manage budgets, establish policy, financial decision-making, controlling margins, and making decision about hospital revenue and expenses. Oversees budgeting and finance directives for the VTH. Will prepare and execute budgetary action plans. Will work directly with VTH Leadership responsible for planning, budgeting, and acquisitions for the VTH to develop and maintain the annual budget. Will conduct real-time monthly budget reviews to VTH Leadership and Section Chiefs to direct financial decisions for the hospital and its operation. Leads business intelligence and total quality improvement initiatives to monitor and achieve VTH financial and productivity key performance indicators (KPIs).

35%- Assists in the development of long and short-range hospital operations plans that may include service demand analyses, resource availability analyses and cost benefit analyses or proposed capital and staff expansions. Analyze KPIs to evaluate organizational performance in meeting objectives and to determine areas of potential cost reduction, program improvement, or policy change. Directs and coordinates the VTH's financial activities to sufficiently fund operations and increase efficiency and productivity. Assists the VTH Leadership in advising and reviewing purchasing contracts, agreements, equipment, and inventory to ensure VTH operations are efficient and meet both clinical and educational needs.

Directs the daily Business Office operations for Vet Med, including the revenue reconciliation of all generated revenue. Oversee all financial aspects of state accounts (restricted and unrestricted), agency accounts and LSU Foundation accounts, purchasing, payroll, and accounts receivable to ensure compliance with LSU policies and procedures. Conduct monthly meetings for budget updates and training; including cost center managers, and financial staff for all Vet Med departments and units. Create and maintains audit controls to ensure quality of service and to surface training opportunities. Periodically audit deposits and other transactions to test for accuracy and completeness. Contribute to prepare and review financial reports of a recurring or ad hoc nature.

10%- Assists with financial management of human resources for Vet Med which includes additional compensation and faculty are paid on appropriately accounts. Conducts meetings with departments / units to review prior year financial report, operating budget, salary savings, and indirect costs and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field with 7 years of experience in budgeting, financial reporting, or related work, and 2 years of supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications :

Master's Degree in a related field, with 8+ year's of demonstrated experience preparing and evaluating financial reports. -Experience working in a veterinary or human medical facility. Knowledge of accounting system (Workday). 3+ years of progressive managerial experience.

Special or Physical Qualifications :

Operation Essential Personnel - This position may be asked to work during an official closure, but who is otherwise not required to report to the physical campus during a closure and whose absence does not present a risk to the safety, resources, and well-being of the campus per FASOP HR-01

Cash Handling - This position has access to / directly handles cash. Financial history / credit check required per FASOP HR-04.
