The Director of Assurance Quality Management is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the quality, integrity and compliance of assurance engagements. This leadership role ensures that the firm's assurance practice meets professional standards, regulatory requirements and internal policies while driving a culture of excellence, accountability and continuous improvement.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Oversight and Compliance
- Develop, implement and maintain quality control policies and procedures for assurance engagements.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., FASB, AICPA, GAO, DOL, State Boards of Accountancy) and other applicable regulations.
- Monitor and assess audit engagement quality through periodic reviews, coaching and training.
- Requires expertise in a wide variety of engagements (nonprofit, employee benefit plans, Yellow Book, Uniform Guidance, manufacturing, real estate, construction, etc.)
- Maintains and updates the firm's quality control document for changes in firm procedures or changes in accounting and auditing standards.
- Monitor compliance with the firm's Quality Management Policies and Procedures.
Process Improvement and Best Practices
Leverage technology and data analytics to strengthen quality control procedures.Develop and disseminate best practices across the assurance service line.Risk Management & Regulatory Adherence
Evaluate and mitigate quality and compliance risks in assurance engagements.Lead internal and external inspections and peer reviews.Serve as the primary liaison with regulators, professional bodies and industry groups regarding quality control matters.Training and Development
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to assurance professionals on quality and compliance matters.Design and implement training programs to enhance assurance staff's understanding of evolving regulations and professional standards.Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional excellenceInform staff and clients on changes to professional standards.Required Education
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
Valid CPA required
Skills and Experience
Minimum of ten years of experience in audit and assurance, with a strong focus on quality control and complianceCPA designationExtensive knowledge of FASB, AICPA, DOL and other relevant regulationsProven leadership and management experience in a public accounting firmDemonstrated outstanding time management skills, ability to multi-task, determine prioritiesAbility to operate independently and "self-manage" multiple projectsAbility to work with and meet deadlinesExtensive experience with nonprofit and commercial organization GAAPStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and guide professionals at all levels.Strong attention to detailAbility to think innovatively and make suggestions for improvementsRemote and flexible working options available!!!
