Manager Project Controls

This Manager Project Controls position will report to an organization that is primarily focused on the execution of new generation projects, but this group will also execute other large complex projects such as synchronous condensers.

This role will be a project control cost tool, project scheduling software and information system SME. Responsible for optimizing, leading, empowering, and accountability for Project Controls cost and scheduling performance reporting. Manages reporting of project EAC status and performance through KPI metrics. Provide integrated project controls management for Construction projects. Seamlessly integrate project controls methodology, staff, processes, tools, techniques, and information management systems to provide daily support to the Project Managers, Project Developers, Project Engineers, Project Technical Specialists, Construction Managers, and Generation Construction Executive Management. Directly responsible for ensuring optimum project controls staff support of individual projects. Leads and Directs Performance Area Capability in Project Controls; Competent and facilitating support for Project Execution and Project Close-Out and Transition to Operations. Develop, apply, and advance Project Management and Project Controls capability and competence using industry standards (AACE, PMI, Construction Management Industry, etc.) and best practice application to integrate knowledge areas for optimum project delivery application. This position will oversee managed task contract workforce and associated contracts. Objectively drives, applies subject matter expertise, directs and leads Project Controls Resources Conflict Management, Coaches, Team Builds, Motivates, Inspires, Program Manages resources. Leads Senior Leadership and Executive Leadership reporting efforts.

What You Will Do

  • Competent in the product life cycle including project development, engineering, construction, testing, turnover and operations support. Ensures scope planning, requirements management, and scope definition. Deployment of optimum WBS and Cost Account management methodology to establish integrated product and project baseline development, and integrated scope change control methods. Perform life cycle project change control to prevent quality degradation and scope creep.
  • Manages reporting the effect on EAC of identified project risks
  • Provides project controls subject matter expertise support for Contract Project Control / Commercial Components
  • Manages scheduling requirements for risk mitigation strategies
  • Manages core project controls cost and schedule efforts
  • Responsible for the utilization of project management guidelines, project management standards, processes, job aids, and tools
  • Manages project management systems to improve project performance
  • Manages cost management tools / techniques to advance cost performance
  • Manages and integrates project schedule with the project budgets and cost performance baselines
  • Manages correlation of project execution costs to original cost estimates
  • Manages and integrates the project budgets and cost performance baselines
  • Responsible for Project Cost Accounting
  • Manages project cost analysis processes, tools and techniques
  • Manages project schedule management tools / techniques to advance schedule performance
  • Manages project continuous life cycle planning cost and scheduling processes with progressive risk management forecasting with increased predictability, accuracy and precision.
  • Manages the integrated cost / schedule performance baselines
  • Manages project cost and schedule performance reporting and identifies opportunities to avoid or mitigate negative cost variances
  • Manage project controls effort in regard to project initiation, project planning-project management plan, project control subsidiary plans, project execution and project controls plans, and baseline change control
  • Accountable for safety and environmental performance for project control staff (internal and external)
  • Manages Executive reporting including collaboration on reporting efforts with FP&A, Regulatory and Treasury leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelors of Accounting, Finance, or Science Degree in Engineering or Technical degree and combination of six years project controls experience in cost and scheduling or 10 years + project controls experience Required
  • Experience managing project controls for technical projects, with emphasis in the electric power industry Preferred and
  • Direct experience managing and overseeing contract employees Required
  • Expert knowledge and application of Financial Management and Project based cost and schedule monitoring processes
  • Interpersonal skills, effective working with and leading teams, facilitating interactive group work sessions and assimilating project teams
  • Have the ability to produce multiple, alternative approaches or solutions to opportunities or problems
  • Strong leadership skills; ability to create a vision, clearly communicate direction and drive to goal completion
  • Requires the ability to read and understand technical documents including legal contracts and information on new management concepts and new technology
  • Preferred for Selection

  • : $129,500.00 - $194,300.00
