Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry / ED Holds position requiring strong telemetry skills and an active AZ or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
Position is based in an acute care setting on the ED Holds / Tele unitCare for patients from the emergency department awaiting inpatient placement, primarily telemetry and medical-surgical casesNurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4No ventilator patients; frequent use of titratable cardiac drips (Cardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone)Nurses are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips as there are no monitor techs12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with 4 weekend shifts per 4-week scheduleMust work 2 of the 4 major holidays during contract periodFirst to float to med / surg / tele / overflow units and both primary and secondary campus EDs as neededCerner is used for electronic chartingResponsibilities include monitoring and caring for ED hold patients, decreasing cardiac drips, performing vital signs, IV starts, and medication administration as neededWill not serve as the primary RN for new ED patient assignmentsSupport available from ED charge nurse and PCTsTwo-shift orientation to Med / Surg / Tele at the primary campus providedNavy scrubs requiredHoliday coverage rotates with permanent staffFirst-time travelers and MS / Tele travelers welcome to applyMust reside at least 50 miles from the facility for travel eligibility if in AZ, NV, NE, IA, or MNRequirements
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of applicationMinimum of 2 years recent telemetry experience (within the past 6 months), with strong cardiac backgroundCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA or APEX) certifications requiredMust pass a dysrhythmia exam via RELIAS within 48 hours of offer (maximum 2 attempts)Successful completion of a pass / fail SIM lab on orientation dayAbility to titrate cardiac drips per physician ordersMust be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independentlyDriver’s license required for considerationNot eligible if employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities within the past year (PRN through agency excepted)Benefits
