Job Summary The Patient Care Technician I plays a vital role in supporting clinical research participants with psychiatric diagnoses who are enrolled in trials. This role focuses on patient advocacy, psychosocial support, discharge planning, and retention of participants, ensuring their needs are addressed throughout their inpatient stay.
Key Responsibilities
Assess psychosocial and case management needs of participantsAssist with discharge planning, summaries, and follow-up coordinationFacilitate communication with treatment providers, family, and referral sourcesArrange transportation for appointments, interviews, or dischargeSupport participants with practical needs (rent, bills, clothing, ADLs)Organize and document family meetings and case manager visitsAssist with applications for healthcare coverage, social security, and other benefitsDevelop relationships with community agencies to connect participants with resourcesRun weekly inpatient groups focused on psychosocial needsMaintain accurate records and databases for discharges and study terminationsPerform additional duties as assignedMinimum Requirements
