Police Officer Trainee
The City of Merced is offering a Police Officer Trainee position with a salary range of $48,755.20 to $59,259.20 annually. This full-time role is located in the city of Merced, CA.
The responsibilities of the Police Officer Trainee include attending a basic Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified training academy to obtain the necessary skills and fitness level for Police Officer duties. The trainee will also perform related duties as required.
Qualifications for this position include knowledge of the geography of the local area, general principles of report writing, office procedures, and the ability to learn laws of arrest and pertinent local, state, and federal laws and ordinances. Experience in law enforcement is desirable, and a valid California Driver License is required. The trainee must also meet special requirements such as being at least 21 years of age and a citizen of the United States of America.
The working environment for this position includes a high-stress police training academy with exposure to indoor and outdoor settings, noise, smoke, and fumes. Physical demands include maintaining mobility, restraining individuals, and operating various equipment.
Employees selected for this position will be required to sign an employment contract with the City, agreeing to reimburse the City for academy training costs if they resign or leave within the first 36 months.
